“To do it right is to rewrite yourself at each location.”
As of the time of writing, it will be a full year since I left the US to follow my Art. In that time, I surrendered my creativity to everything other nations had for me. I visited 11 nations in this expedition.
Only buying supplies from a local art shop and painting the scenes I could travel to, I built a large international body of work. I lived like locals, spending months in the worlds of others and learning languages. Speaking to members of every age. However, my most prized encounters were with the Artist. Who showed me techniques, philosophies, and perspectives.
Traveling is something I recommend to everyone, but I warn you. To do it right is to rewrite yourself at each location.
When I left the USA in June 2025, I had just finished an Artist interview with a local gallery in Kansas City set to display 13 of my original works and open in September, by the time Halloween had arrived, I was in Italy, beginning told three of my canvases had sold even before the door had officially opened.
In the coming months, I will return to Albania, then Greece, and eventually return to Venice. I would get an article written on me by East Sports about the travel I was doing with their backpack, and then I would do another live painting, this time on St Mark’s Basilica Square.
A local gallery member asked that I submit a portfolio to their gallery. This small conversation led to my work being accepted into my first international art exhibition in Venice. One problem. However. By the time I got the news, I was already in Bangkok.
The purpose of this is to illustrate. If you don’t value your art. No one will.
